We conduct experimental trials into mesothelioma and lung cancer.

Our current clinical trials are:

1. Immunotherapy of mesothelioma and lung cancer.
This trials involves the use on autologous tumour, obtained following surgical resection, administered as a vaccine subcutaneously 2-weekly with recombinant GM-CSF given on days 1-3 for a six month period. This is entirely and outpatient procedure but all patients need to be resident in Perth and must have operable disease.

2. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy in mesothelioma.
This trial involves pre-resection chemotherapy using gemcitabine (1g/m2 by IV infusion over 30 minutes in 250 mls of normal saline on days 1,8 and 15 and cisplatin at 100mg/m2 in 1L normal saline containing 2.47gm of magnesium supahte by IV infusion over 1 hour, with hydration, on day 1. After 3 cycles patients undergo tumour resection by pleurectomy and decortication or pleuropneumonectomy.
