The Wagner Medal of the International Mesothelioma Interest Group. 2004. An award made every second year at their International Conference to the individual who is judged by the committee to have made the leading contributions to mesothelioma research, either clinical or laboratory, over a number of years.

The Premier's Science Award, 2004, for achievement and leadership in science.

The Young Investigator Award of the Thoracic Society of Australia, 1986, for 'the most outstanding scientific work by an investigator under 36 years of age'.

The Eric G Saint Award, 1996, for contributions to research into asbestos-related diseases.
