Bruce has a long history as a player, coach and club Patron in Australian Rules football. He has also been invited to a number of AFL clubs to speak on work-life balance for coaching staff.
Bruce played with Bassendean Juniors, University (twice selected in All-Australian Intervarsity team) and Swan Districts. He has also been a successful varsity coach (3 Premierships) and has written an Australian Rules Coaching Manual. He is a Life Member of the University of WA Football Club and.co-patron of the Swan Districts Football Club.
